Why consoles are still a popular choice for serious gamers
Why consoles are popular

There is talk in the gaming world that console gaming is dying a slow
death, but the numbers show a different narrative. The PS4 and the Xbox
One continue to sell tens of millions, showing that the popularity of
console gaming is alive and well. The criticisms range from the console
not being as popular as the Smartphone, they are not as attractive as the
PC and that they are just way too expensive. The console, in the long
term, offers serious gamers great advantages.
High Quality Games
Smartphone users will find a huge range of games on the App Store or
Google Play, and let's just say that many of them are not great. There are
one or two apps which are worth playing like Angry Birds or Candy Crush,
but unfortunately for every great game there are many that are not worth
playing. Many games bought at app stores usually glitch and do not play
well, unless of course you have opted to download a Canadian mobile casino
app; but that's not for everyone either. When it comes to gaming on a
console the range of good quality games seem endless.
Each year brings more and more popular games. For PlayStation fans there
are games like Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet as well as the popular Metal
Gear games. Xbox has games such as Halo, Titanfall, Forza and the great
favourites which just seem to keep on going such as Grand Theft Auto, Call
of Duty and FIFA. Nintendo is not to be left out with games like Mario
Kart, Pokémon and Donkey Kong.
Cost Effective
The PC seems to be the choice of serious gamers and good gaming PC's
will have the best graphics systems and loads of software. The only
problem with this is that gaming on a PC does not come cheap. Gamers are
looking at expensive layout costs, and that is just to get started, which
is sometimes triple what a console goes for. PC gamers will say that in
the long run a PC will be more cost effective as they can be upgraded.
Many gamers do not have that kind of outlay to begin with. Gamers will
begin with costs that are not too much and then a bit extra for games each
month. Also a console will work from the first day it is bought while
playing on a PC will mean the graphics card and performance of the PC will
determine the user experience. Sometimes PC gamers will have to replace
the video card because it is outdated. Most gamers would just like to be
able to play a game straight out of the box without worrying if their PC
will be compatible with the latest game.
Connecting Socially
It is a well-known fact that consoles connect people and this is done
better than any other form of gaming system. The console is a great game
for friends to get together and play. With the latest consoles gamers can
also now connect with each other via chat rooms, forums and social media.
It may be true that smartphone and PC gaming connect a larger volume of
people because of the networking that comes with these devices, but
consoles offer the same connections.
The console is not going anywhere, even though it seems the future is a
bit shaky and mobile games are growing in popularity. With new innovations
in gaming and consoles being updated and with the prospect of virtual
reality gaming it would seem that console gaming will always be a popular
choice for gamers.
